I Tame Impala sono una band australiana di base a Perth che suona una miscela rock-psyco-groove con sane chitarre distorte e giri di basso ipnotici, una voce distante quanto basta senza essere noiosa. Li hanno paragonati ai Beatles, ai Pink Floyd, loro rispondono:
“The Tame Impala sound is one equally informed by The Beatles as it is beat poetry, by Turkish prog as it is by Turkish delight, and by English folk as much as homeless folk, and it’s a breathe of fresh air that reeks of all of these at times and none at others.”
Dopo aver registrato i primi demo sul tetto di casa sono riusciti a pubblicare un primo album nel 2010, Innerspeaker e quest’anno ci hanno regalato Lonerism. Che dire io ho cominciato ad approfondirli dopo che fra i commenti di YouTube ho letto il post di un ragazzo che li ha visti in concerto in Australia. Il post recitava più o meno una cosa così “Cazzo la mia mente fluttuava ovunque, e il suono era tutto attorno e dentro di me. Poi mi sono ricordato che non avevo preso nessun fottuto acido”. In ogni caso i ragazzi ci sanno fare e il 26 di ottobre saranno a Milano ai Magazzini Generali, unica data italiana.
“If Tame Impala’s music reminds you of what you’d want to put on when you next visit your mind’s engine room then they’re happy. If not, whatever, it’s just music. Put it on when the sun next shines. Basically it’s all about the feeling.” Non male come auto-definizione. Enjoy it!
